He’s Near to the Broken Hearted

It wasn’t until I was in my forties that my life began to make sense.  From my early youth through my adulthood, I have dealt with all kinds of problems, from set-backs and devastations, to heartbreaks and disappointments.  Many times I cried out to God to ask why. I even questioned if he loved me or if my life was some gross mistake he had made.  Just like Job did.  How could I be a good well meaning person and suffer so much hurt, pain and oppression?  “God, what did I do that was so wrong?” I remember questioning  God at one point in my life almost every night sobbing with my head buried in my tear soaked pillow.

I Had Been Set Free

I remember listening to this woman share her testimony on the television  about how God delivered her and gave her peace and joy unspeakable.  I listened to this woman speak of the abuse she encountered as a child, turmoil in every way imaginable, how that in her adult life she was strung out on drugs, how when she went out to sell her body she would leave her small babies in the backseat of a car, she was homeless yet her current life showed absolutely no resemblance of her past.  But as I listened to her share her past, everything about her now said success. The tone of voice, her wellness both physically and spiritually, her inner and outer smile – success permeated from her! There was this joy bursting forth from inside of her that she could not hide.  It reminded me of a young lady who was blessed by my own testimony I had shared only two years earlier.  As I shared my testimony with her she responded, “I would have never known what you went through, Mel.  You have certainly been through the fire and you don’t even smell like smoke, everytime I see you, I see peace and happiness and your always so encouraging and positive!”  Statements like these became more and more common as I would share my testimony with whomever God placed on my heart to speak to as an encouragement of the goodness and love of God.

My Purpose Hit Me!

I realized why God had made me fail proof, resilient and victorius through situations that destroy most people; why through my trials, he kept my heart soft and pliable to who he is; so that I might be a living testament to his love, power and might and be a blessing and an encouragement to others and share that he is the LORD GOD who delivers his people from every trial and tribulation and that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him!  Although at one time I was convinced that my circumstances, hurts and disappointments would destroy me,  I found out through coming through my trials to the other side into victory after victory that he never put more on me than I could bear.  I understood later that he called me and he had a work for me to do that was bigger than me and my life.

Desire by Design Ministries is an assignment given to me to share the gospel of Christ, the good news with whomsoever will listen.  The bible often states that “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”  God’s will for us is that our minds are transformed by his word rather than our conformity to the behaviors, thoughts and emotions of this world (Romans 12:1).  I  was led by the Holy Spirit to bring forth Desire by Design ministries to minister truth to young adults and women.  Although I’ve been a avid studier of the word of God and accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior at the age of twelve, I recently became an ordained minister February 2009.

Desire by Design “Dream Girl” Ministries encourages spiritual growth into “Kingdom Minded Beauties;”  To lead women to experience a joy and fullness that can only come from a relationship with Jesus.  There is nothing more desirable, precious and beautiful than a “Kingdom Minded” woman.  The world believes that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  God said that beauty is reflected in the heart. The world would say a beautiful women is visually appealing, physically fit, seductive, etc.  God said Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.  Proverbs 31:29.  My mission is to share with women that there is a more excellent way.  God said in his word that a virtuous women smiles at her future.  She has a revelation of eternal blessings over temporal things – God’s promises shall be fulfilled in her life because she reverences the Lord and practices a life of righteousness and faith through Jesus Christ.   It is my desire through Christ to dispel the deception that many women have bought into believing that if they give their bodies, or compete with other women or change who they are they’ll land that man and skip down the yellow brick road happily ever after.   Many women have been sold a lie believing that they are helpless, needy and lonely because they lack male companionship when God longs to show his love evident in every area of their life, and no man is hardly capable of that.

Desire by Design “Urban Ministries” encourages young adults to be accountable for their actions.  Many of our young adults are mis-guided unfortunately even in religion today.  They are led to believe that what’s most important is how much money they’ll make, where they’ll live, what they’ll drive, what they aspire to become, and how they look etc.  The Pride of Life, the Lust of the Flesh and the Lust of the Eye.  What’s most important is whether or not you have a relationship with Christ Jesus and God the Father.  What’s most important are the choices that you make in this life.  The bible says that we have the option of choosing life or death Deuteronomy 30:19.  God has set before all of us life and death, blessing and cursing.  Unfortunately many young adults don’t know how to define the patterns that lead to death.  Many are not aware of how to walk in the fruits of the spirit which lead to blessings and eternal life and know the differences in contrast to the practices of the lusts of the flesh which steal from you in this life and lead to eternal damnation.

God loved us yet while we were in our mother’s womb. So full of a love, mercy and grace incomprehensible, he purposed a plan to bring us back into relationship with him. We are dead in our sins with no hope for eternal life, however there is a way of redemption…..He sent his only begotten son thru Jesus Christ as the final atonement for the redemption of our sins to die on the cross – to shed his divine blood which covered the sins of the world for each and everyone of us – that we may have life; and after taking keys of death from the grips of Satan, he rose again, and now sits on the right hand of the Father with all authority, dominion and power and whomever will confess and believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord and shall live their life loving his commandments, loving his law and his statutes – those who will die to flesh and walk in the fruits of the spirit shall have everlasting life with the Father!

My good people, never, ever, ever under-estimate the love of God in YOUR life. I DARE YOU to watch what God will do if you put him first!

Father I ask that you search the heart of everyone who reads this. I ask that you reveal yourself to those who will diligently seek you out and make known your ways to them through your word In the Mighty name of Jesus – Amen
